Welcome to Alma Bible Church online. I am glad that you have taken the time to visit us. Here on this website, there is a lot to take in. All of it though is in the hopes that you will one day come and visit with us in person.
As I write this, Summer is not far away. What often happens during the summer is people run off and enjoy the great outdoors. We go camping, we play baseball or soccer, we travel to the beach etc. These are all great things, and lots of fun too. Sadly in the process, we neglect our spiritual development. So, let me take the time to encourage you to think about turning this years summer vacation into a spiritual journey. Think about it. There are so many great places to go. Have you ever been to the Creation Museum in Kentucky? It is worth the drive. While you are there, be sure to visit the Ark. They have built a life size replica of what they think the Ark would have looked like. It is an incredibly powerful experience.
Not sure if you have heard, but there is now a Bible Museum in Washington DC. Washington already seemed to be the museum capital of the world. Well add on now the Bible Museum. I haven’t been there yet, but I did see a traveling display that has made its way there. It was very cool. God’s Word, the Bible, is a book of power. Read it, and it will change you. You will find new life in it.
You don’t have to go far afield to make your vacation a spiritual journey though. Every time you go camping, take time to marvel at God’s creation all around you. The trees, the lakes, the rocks, all of these things put there by God. Don’t forget to look at the stars though. At night when you sit down to roast those marshmallows, think about what you are seeing, talk about it. God placed each star in the sky, he knows each one. Yet here we are, and we are so much more important to Him than any of those stars.
Thinking ahead, looking at the planning we are doing, there is so much to look forward to here at Alma. First up on the calendar is SonShine Club. This years theme is Shipwrecked. It promises to be another year of fun. So parents, if you are looking for ways to engage your kids, and provide them with some really fun things to do, look no further.
Another huge event, something we haven’t really done much of at all in the past is the upcoming “Ministry Weekend” currently being planned for October of this year. With Sunday to Sunday ministry, or Life groups, the topics fly by so fast there is hardly much opportunity to dig deeper. We are hoping that the “Ministry Weekend” will provide the answer. A weekend of intense ministry all focused on one particular subject. Stay tuned for more information.
So, yes, there is lots going on, and I feel like I am only scratching the surface here. There is lots to be excited about here at Alma. Alma Bible Church is alive, and I am so glad that God has given me the privilege to be a part of it all. Why don’t you come and visit with us in person. We would love to have you be a part of it all too.
